The Washington, D.C. parade, canceled for 2019 because of lack of funding for required security, will have a presence in the annual march up Fifth Avenue in Manhattan.

The New York parade board invited representatives of the D.C. march to take part with their banner, and a group plans on making the trip to Manhattan for the event on Saturday, March 16.

“Everyone is Irish in New York on St. Patrick’s Day,” said Sean Lane, the chairman of the New York parade board who invited the Washington contingent to march.

“The theme of the parade this year is immigration and we support those from Ireland and elsewhere, even Washington.”
