Pierce Brosnan has been voted the Sexiest Grandpa of 2023 while fellow Irish actor Cillian Murphy lost out in the Sexiest Blockbuster Star of 2023 vote in PEOPLE Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive Readers' Choice Polls.

Brosnan - the Co Meath native who was named the overall Sexiest Man Alive in 2001 - beat out fellow stud grandpas Kurt Russell, Al Roker, and Michael Douglas in this year’s Sexiest Grandpa poll.

70-year-old Brosnan has two grandchildren through his son Sean - Jaxxon Elijah Brosnan, who is almost one year old, and Marley May Cassandra Brosnan, who is eight years old.

He also has two older grandchildren through his late, adopted daughter Charlotte Brosnan - Isabella Sophie Smith, 25, and Lucas Smith, 18.

“It’s just such a joy to be a grandparent,” Brosnan gushed during a 2017 appearance on "Live With Kelly and Mark."

"There is just something intoxicating about it and beautiful."

Brosnan agreed, with a laugh, that it's possible to love your grandchildren more than your children.

“There is something very special about it," the Irish "James Bond" star said.

"I think it’s the timing of your life, you know, your passage in life is going through and you’ve brought up a son, a daughter and now you have a granddaughter or grandson, and you’re kind of looking at the clock, time past, time present."

Brosnan, who is currently filming the western “Unholy Trinity" in Montana, welcomed the birth of his youngest grandchildren last year on Instagram, where he's also shared several pictures of granddaughter Marley May.

While Brosnan came out on top for PEOPLE Magazine’s Readers’ Choice Sexiest Grandpa poll, sadly fellow Irish actor Cillian Murphy lost out to Chris Hemsworth in the Readers' Choice Sexiest Blockbuster Star category.

The Cork native is generating serious Oscar buzz for his turn as J. Robert Oppenheimer earlier this year. 

It's not a total washout for Murphy, though. Earlier this year, he was included in Elle Magazine's "Hot Irish Guy Summer" roundup.

Meanwhile, Patrick Dempsey - who fell in love with Ireland during his 2021 visit - was named the overall Sexiest Man Alive for 2023.
