Yes, St. Patrick’s Day is a bank holiday in Ireland. Since March 17 falls on a Sunday in 2019, the country will observe a bank holiday on Monday, March 18. Dublin’s main St. Patrick’s Day celebrations will still be hosted on Sunday, March 17.

Besides St. Patrick’s Day in Ireland, the only other saint’s day that is also a public holiday is St. Stephen’s Day, which falls on December 26 every year.

St. Patrick’s Day in March and St. Stephen’s Day in December are two of the nine public holidays Ireland has annually.

No, St. Patrick’s Day is not a bank holiday in the US. Despite many people attempting to make the holiday a public holiday stateside, March 17 does not see the closure of schools and businesses.
