Dingle joins other stunning European spots such as Pompeii in Italy, Athens in Greece, Bruges in Belgium, and Lisbon in Portugal as some of the top places to visit in Europe.

Situated on the southwest coast of Ireland, Dingle is a far cry from the urban areas of Ireland as it still maintains some very traditional ways of life. Still, tourists will always find a warm welcome in this seaside haven.

CNN Travel writes: “The Dingle Peninsula, in County Kerry on Ireland's southwest coast, is paradise for those who like their trips active and adventurous.”

“Mount Brandon offers a strenuous hike, rewarding walkers with views over the Atlantic and across the entire peninsula. Surfers can take to the water at Inch Beach, with waves to suit first timers or hardened pros.”

“The colorful streets of the small port of Dingle have plenty of bars for kicking back and easing aching joints over a pint.”

If you're planning on visiting Dingle, you'll have to see if you can scope out the area's most popular resident - Fungie the dolphin!  The friendly sea creature is a fixture in the port village.

Also a hallmark of the Dingle Peninsula is the Gaeltacht, an area in Ireland where the ancient Gaelic language is still widely spoken. As such, the area is at the epicenter of Irish music and dance.
