In anticipation of this year's Valentine’s Day, Betfair Casino has generated a definitive list of the top-rated romantic spots in Ireland, with Dingle Peninsula in County Kerry scoring in first place.
To create the list, researchers measured the popularity of each destination with a unique index score, based on the number of hashtags and views each location has racked up on Instagram, as well as Trip Advisor rankings - with the lower the overall index score, the higher the ranking.
The Dingle Peninsula is the perfect place for a romantic stroll along the beach with your partner. Located on the South-West coast, the incredible beaches here have much to offer, with crystal clear water and breathtaking landscapes. You’re also just a walk away from the quaint fishing village, Dingle, where you will feel worlds away from reality.
Following in joint second place are two of Ireland’s must-see destinations - Killarney National Park and Giant's Causeway. If you and your partner love to immerse yourselves in nature, these two beautiful sites will simply take your breath away. Killarney National Park is described as a spectacular natural beauty spot. And if you want to explore a little further, Ross Castle - which placed fifth on the list - is a medieval gem that lies in the heart of the park, surrounded by mountains, lakes and parkland with some of the best views of the Emerald Isle.
If you’re after something a bit different this year, a stroll around Ashford Castle and its spectacular grounds in County Mayo - which made the top five - may be the route to go down for you and your Valentine. The 800-year-old castle on its 300-acre estate provides everything you could want from a romantic day out in Ireland’s countryside. The incredible castle is situated on the picturesque shores of Lough Corrib and provides a perfect escape for many.
