The Northern Ireland capital was listed among the top 10 friendliest UK cities in the Condé Nast Traveller 2023 Readers' Choice Awards.

The luxury travel magazine asked its readers to vote for the UK cities they consider home to the friendliest people. The cities were then ranked by their scores, which are percentages representing overall average levels of satisfaction.

Belfast ranked second on the friendliest cities list, tying for second place with Manchester and Liverpool, with all three cities scoring 94.12.

Although a total of 10 cities appear on the list, there are only seven rankings with the three cities tied for second place, and Cambridge and Aberdeen tied in seventh place.

Condé Nast Traveller writes: "The people of Northern Ireland are known for their upbeat nature so it's little wonder that Belfast is the second friendliest city in the UK. Visitors past and present have often remarked on the inclusive nature of the residents here, the birthplace of the Titanic, as well as the joyful atmosphere found within the myriad watering holes."

For where to stay while in Northern Ireland's capital, Condé Nast Traveller recommends The Harrison, "a colourful, light-hearted hangout that's close to some of the top cultural highlights." The boutique hotel has been named one of the best hotels in Belfast by the magazine.
