With the release of the snarky, quippy, action-packed trailer for “Deadpool 2” we decided to take a look at the Irish Canadian’s roots and plans for Game of Thrones takeover!

The first trailer for the Marvel “Deadpool 2” movie has been released. The perfect fit for handsome quick witted Irish Canadian Ryan Reynolds who described the movie at NSFW as “falling somewhere between The Godfather: Part II /and Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights." Nice!

Celebrating all things Ryan Reynolds today we thought we’d take a look at his proud Irish roots and how he plans to use them to nab a role in “Game of Thrones”, which is filmed (in part) in Ireland.

Reynolds was born in Vancouver, British Columbia. The son of James Chester "Jim" Reynolds and Tammy he was raised to be proud of his Irish roots and was also raised Catholic. He is the youngest of four brothers, two of who are cops in BC.

Back in 2011, when he was promoting “Green Lantern” (less said about that action-hero movie the better) Reynold spoke about his Irish roots and how he had visited Ireland with his brother. He told the Times “Yes. I’ve been to Dublin and Galway. My brother and I just toured around there for a while. We have relatives there, whom we completely avoided,” he says, joking about the last part.

This isn’t the first time he’d brought up his Irish roots. Back when he was promoting “The Proposal” he told Movies.ie that with “brothers named Terry and Patrick, I’m pretty damn Irish!”

In fact, in 2017, Reynolds stayed in Dublin with his two daughters while his wife Blake Lively filmed her new movie “The Rhythm Section” in County Wicklow. It was rumored that the couple rented an apartment in Dalkey, a popular south Dublin suburb that would allow them privacy with their children.

Proud of his Irish roots, evidentially, Reynolds announced in June 2017 that he has plans to get a role in his favorite TV show “Game of Thrones”, which is largely filmed in Northern Ireland.

“It’s no secret, I’m a Game of Thrones nut. I’m an addict. There’s nothing I won’t do to get my next fix. No boundary of self-respect, I’ll do whatever it is I have to do to have more. Would I want a part? On one hand, I’m a fan so I like my outside perspective into that world but on the other, f*** yeah, how ridiculously insane would that be!”

We would definitely like to see that happen and he certainly seems to have the sword skills to fight a “GOT” battle or two!

“Deadpool 2” will be released in theaters on May 18.
