A frequent visitor to Ireland, Queen Camilla has begun her first solo trip to Northern Ireland as King Charles eases off on his engagements due to cancer treatment.
Queen Camilla has arrived in Northern Ireland to take part in a series of engagements on behalf of the Royal Family. King Charles was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year and has eased off on his Royal engagements while receiving treatment.
Queen Camilla arrived at Hillsborough Castle, in County Down, on Wednesday evening, and will carry out a series of engagements on Thursday. As the Queen arrived at the British Royal Family's residence in Northern Ireland a bugler welcomed her. She was also greeted by the Lord Lieutenant for County Down, Gawn Rowan Hamilton, and castle staff.

King Charles and Queen Camilla last visited Northern Ireland in May 2023, which was the monarch's 42nd trip to the region. The couple visited following King Charles' coronation earlier that month. The Royal couple visited for the official opening of the Coronation Garden, at Hazelbank Park in Newtownabbey, County Antrim, designed by Diarmuid Gavin.
Since her marriage to King Charles in 2005, The Queen has become patron or president of over 90 charities. Her Majesty’s charity work is varied but several themes prevail: health and well-being, promoting literacy, the arts, animal welfare and supporting survivors of rape and sexual assault.
