Patrick Kielty will make his debut as Late Late Toy Show host on Friday evening after announcing that the biggest TV event of the year will be themed after the hit 2003 Christmas movie "Elf".

Patrick Kielty, who took over as Late Late Show host in September, said it is an honor to host the Toy Show but said the focus shouldn't be on him on Friday night, insisting that the show is about the children.

"This isn’t my show, this is the kids’ show, and this show belongs to everybody, Irish home and abroad," Kielty told the Irish Times ahead of the Toy Show.

"For me, it’s a massive, massive honor, to be walking out on Friday night and to be part of this party."

Kielty said he is "delighted" that this year's show will be themed after "Elf", starring Will Ferrell as an oversized elf who travels to New York City to meet his biological father.

"Sitting down to watch it with all the family has become a big Christmas tradition in our house and I can’t wait to let Buddy and the elves loose in the Toy Show Workshop tonight," Kielty told Irish radio station Newstalk.

"We’ve got some amazing kids, wonderful toys, and lovely surprises coming your way.

"I really hope you have as much fun watching as we are going to have making it."

The set for Friday night's show will feature set pieces paying homage to famous scenes in the movie, including New York's Central Park, the Toy Shop, Candy Cane Forest, and the movie's Post Office Workshop.

The show will additionally feature a variety of Irish and international toys, including a 3D Model Croke Park, a Bainisteoir Board Game, and a range of Barbie and LEGO products.

All toys featured on the show will be donated to charity, while the RTÉ Toy Show Appeal is set to return for a fourth year.

The appeal, which has raised €17.5 million in the past three years, aims to improve the lives of children and their families and has provided support to 226 different children's charities in the past three years.

Wherever you are in the world you can watch the "Toy Show". The Late Late Toy Show, Friday 24 November at 9:35pm (Irish time) on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player.
