Georgina Campbell, one of Ireland's leading independent hospitality guides, has announced the winners of its annual Irish Breakfast Awards, celebrating top food producers and the best Irish breakfasts around Ireland.

The Georgine Campbell Irish Breakfast Awards celebrate the finest Irish food producers and those that take particular pride in serving the best Irish breakfast. The competition is based on the assessments of Georgina’s anonymous judges who travel around the country to find the best of the best.

The 2019 big winners were the Park Hotel, in Kenmare, which won Best Irish Breakfast in the five-star hotel category, Fumbally Café, in Dublin, which won Best Brunch, and Longueville House ,in Cork, which won the Irish Brown Bread Award.

As breakfast and brunch have risen to prominence around the country in the last number of years, Georgina’s awards, which are now in their third year, seek to highlight the significance of the humble breakfast.

Food is hugely important to Ireland’s reputation in tourism, so highlighting the best of the best is sure to showcase the high-quality talent and ingredients available in Ireland.

Speaking about the importance of the awards, Georgina commented:

“Given the quality of our local produce and the fantastic range of establishments right across the country, we have a unique opportunity to elevate the Irish breakfast scene into something quite special that we can be proud of.

"Sourcing local, seasonal and quality produce is often overlooked when it comes to the first meal of the day, and that has to change if we want to support our indigenous food industry and fly the flag for Irish producers, and the Irish breakfast, both at home and abroad.”

The first of the awards were the 2019 Irish Breakfast Food Awards, which showcased the tastiest products used to make a stellar full breakfast.
