Eve Hewson is quickly becoming one of the most sought-after Irish actresses after receiving global acclaim for her role in Sharon Horgan's "Bad Sisters," but she wants people to know it didn't happen overnight!
As the daughter of U2 frontman Bono, Eve has been well-known in Ireland since she was born, but now she is gaining popularity across the world, and this time it's in her own right.
While the change appears to have happened very suddenly, Eve said she has been perfecting her craft for 15 years.
"You hear so many stories of people who were like, 'I walked into my first audition and I just became a star.' Or, there’s this element of being an actor where people don’t want to tell you how hard they work. They want it to look like it’s really easy," she told the Associated Press.
"But we've been doing this for a long time. People just don’t really tell those stories. It's usually about the one that was found on the street," Eve said, with her "The Perfect Couple" co-star Meghann Fahy chiming in to joke that she "took 15 years to become an overnight success."
The 33-year-old Dublin native most recently starred in Netflix's hit series "The Perfect Couple," alongside Aussie superstar Nicole Kidman, and she has plenty more star-studded projects in the works.
Eve is set to star in Noah Baumbach's upcoming film alongside A-listers Adam Sandler, George Clooney, and Elvis Presley's granddaughter Riley Keough. She has also been linked to horror legend Steven Spielberg's next production.
However, despite landing these huge roles, the Dublin girl says people fangirling over her does not phase her.
"It doesn’t change my life, so it doesn’t bother me, but when someone comes up to me and says that they love the show, especially when it’s someone unexpected, I’m like, "Oh, cool",' Eve explained.
She said it was "fun to experience" because she'd pop down to the local shop and "little old ladies" would recognise her from "Bad Sisters." How sweet!
Despite filling her plate with some major projects, Eve has ensured to make space in her schedule to reprise her role as Becka for season two of "Bad Sisters."
You have to admire her for giving credit to the role that catapulted her career to a global scale!
