This is by far not the first time something like this has happened, but you’d think after all the hubbub each time it does happen, they’d have learned by now.

It’s not just the Irish that are being labelled Londoners on the list, with Australian Cate Blanchett making the cut, as well as the well-known Mancunian Liam Gallagher and Prince of Greece and Denmark, Constantine Alexios; all of which are clearly, not true Londoners.

The Standard article depicting their 100 sexiest Londoners, did stipulate that it was more the people who live there as opposed to those who are from there, that were included on the list, adding they were "Londoners giving the Big Smoke its name".

However, considering Mescal’s famous "I’m Irish" tweet, we doubt the Kildare native would refer to himself as a Londoner anytime soon (we could be wrong).

In fact, his segment on the list includes his American girlfriend, Gracie Abrams.

In the Paul and Gracie section, it reads: "He’s the 29-year-old Kildare-born powerhouse actor whose thigh-and-bicep surface area alone could qualify as prime real estate.

"She’s the 25-year-old American singer adored by Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish, with a $5.5 million pad in Greenwich Village, New York. Both love cigarettes and revealing outfit options: let’s call it a match."

For Andrew Scott, they wrote: "Andrew Scott became an overnight sex symbol when he starred as the Hot Priest in 'Fleabag'. In typically humble fashion, he described the label as 'mind-blowing'. Modesty, in this case, really is sexy."

The UK claiming Irish stars as their own has happened so often now we’ve lost count, from actors, to sports stars, to musicians; they’ve all been referenced as British at some point.

Even Barry Keoghan, who oozes Irishness, was referred to as ‘one of our own’ by British GQ magazine to promote an interview they did with the "Saltburn" star.

They wrote: "He’s one of our most exciting actors — a combustible shape-shifter onscreen, a moon-howling dynamo off it. And he spent the last couple years achieving his Hollywood aspirations. Now, Barry Keoghan is deciding what to manifest next."
