Grace Dervan, an Irish college student in US, got the surprise of a lifetime when Dunkin' brought over her family from Dublin for the holiday season.

Dervan, 22, a graduate student at American International College (AIC) in Springfield, Massachusetts, hadn't seen her family in over a year when Dunkin' secretly arranged for them to greet her at nearby Bradley International Airport.

On November 21, two days before Thanksgiving, Grace arrived at the airport under the impression she was capturing content for a local business and was completely unaware of her transatlantic visitors.

Meanwhile, Dunkin’ was at the gate prepping the Dervan family ahead of the big surprise.

“The holidays are all about the joy of giving and Dunkin’ is proud to give the gift of donuts. When we learned a little more about Grace and the work she does for others, we knew we had to do something more.” said Kelsey Chester, Field Marketing Manager.

“We’ve been planning this surprise for a few weeks and are honored to be a part of something so special for the Dervans.”

Grace was overwhelmed to be greeted by her father Sean Dervan, mother Nuala Dervan, and sister Faye Dervan. They met Grace with Dunkin’s festive dozen-donut boxes and pink and orange balloons.

With the help of Springfield MGM, which generously provided accommodations, the Dervan family was able to stay in Western Massachusetts for a week.

Grace moved to the US in 2018 when she received an athletic scholarship for cross country and track and field from AIC. Due to the long distance, her family was unable to attend her graduation ceremony and hadn't seen her in over a year before Dunkin' arranged the surprise.
