County Antrim Daniella Timperley has been invited to the Royal Wedding thanks to her selfless charity work.

As far as weeks go, being named Top Youth Volunteer and then receiving an invitation to the nuptials of 2018 really does make for a memorable couple of days.

Randalstown teen Daniella Timperley was awarded Ireland's Top Youth Volunteer at a ceremony in the Aviva Stadium.

The schoolgirl also completed OCN accreditations in mental health, domestic violence, understanding risks and self-esteem. The wedding will be just one of the major life events for the teen this spring - she will be traveling to London in May, and on an all-expenses paid trip to Washington DC this summer to meet with American youth volunteers and participate in the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards ceremony.

Her Ballymena school took to Twitter to praise their student and share their delight.

Timperly (18) is the first of some 600 people from the general public who will be invited to the wedding as a result of their charitable contributions.

At least 250 members of the British Army will also be invited to the ceremony, according to News.com.au.

The highly anticipated wedding will take place on Saturday 19th May at 12pm in St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle.
