Katie Taylor has hinted at her future in the ring after beating Amanda Serrano for the third time.
The Bray native beat Serrano for the third consecutive time at an all women’s boxing card in Madison Square Garden on Friday night, in a fight that was watched by millions around the world on Netflix.
Katie won the bout and put the rivalry to bed once and for all with a majority decision win, winning the fight 97-93, 97-93 on the judges scorecards while the third judge gave a score of 95-95.
After seeing off Amanda for the third time, Katie seemed to address her future in the ring, and while she didn’t say if that was her last fight, she joked that she wouldn’t be fighting Amanda again.
‘I don’t know [what the future holds], but I’m not fighting Amanda again, she hits too hard,’ Katie said. ‘I thought I boxed very well and very smart tonight, she didn’t catch me as much as she did in the first two fights, and I’m delighted with the performance.’
Katie also hinted at perhaps finally giving the fans the elusive Croke Park fight that people have been clamouring for, saying in the post fight press conference after she was asked if she’d fight in Dublin again ‘maybe Croke Park?’ to chuckles.

‘That’d be unbelievable,’ Katie said. ‘I said it in the ring earlier on, I just said “these people [Irish fans] are spending their hard earned money to come over and support me.” It just means the world, honestly, I can’t believe that this is my life.
‘I’m headlining a show at Madison Square Garden, all female card, looking back on the whole journey, what an amazing life. These are nights that I dreamed of as a kid, and to sit here again as a winner, I’m so happy.’
Katie and Amanda previously fought in 2022, which saw Katie win by decision, before fighting again in November of last year as the co-main event on Jake Paul v Mike Tyson.

This time around, however, the two women had the spotlight all to themselves, concluding their trilogy on Friday night.
The third meeting between the two was cagier than their previous clashes, simmering throughout with much fewer punches landed.
Neither fighter was able to impose themselves early on, with just three punches connecting in the opening round.

With both fighters operating from more of a distance than their previous meetings, Katie looked to control the centre of the ring and landed some good counter shots as she drew Serrano onto her.
Several rounds could have gone either way as the fight built to a tense climax, Amanda coming forward more and forcing Katie into a corner in the fifth round, but the champion fought her way out.
Katie was marked under the right eye in the eighth, but edged the final two rounds to secure the verdict.
