Celtic goalkeeper Artur Boruc dropped another clanger as the Bhoys lost 2-0 at Hibernian on Sunday, with Parkhead legend Frank McGarvey calling for the Pole to be axed.
Boruc allowed a 40 yard screamer from John Rankin through his fingers and Colin Nish scored a second goal as Celtic's 12 game unbeaten run came to an end.
"Strachan has to drop Boruc," said fan favorite McGarvey. "He has no other option under the circumstances.
"Boruc has become a liability and you could see it coming at Easter Road. His understudy Mark Brown's not as good a keeper but that's the reason you have two keepers, so that when one loses form the other takes his place.
"If Strachan doesn't replace him with Brown then the problem will get worse, simple as that.
"Who would want to buy Boruc now? The answer is nobody when you consider his off-field behavior as well as his loss of form.
"He's basically just a shadow of what he was last season when he helped Celtic win the title. In the summer he was rated at £12 million after the performances at Euro 2008, but it's incredible that we are talking about the same player the way he has gone off the boil
"Any Premier League manager with a lot of money to spend won't touch him. It's really sad to see. Nobody is doubting that he's a talented guy but it's not going for him now."
Irish winger Aiden McGeady made his comeback after a lengthy knee injury when he appeared as a second half substitute in the Hibs defeat.
Shunsuke Nakamura's hopes of a move back to his native Japan have been put on hold after Yokohama Marinos admitted the credit crunch has hit their transfer budget.
Nakamura's contract expires in the summer when he can move home for free.
Manager Gordon Strachan did not discuss the Boruc howler in any depth after the game only to say it was "self-explanatory," before adding, "I don't think Artur will ever lack confidence."
The Celtic boss also refused to slam his players as their unbeaten run came to an end. "It's tough to get beat at any time, but there are a lot of players in my dressing room who must be very proud of the way they tried to make sure it didn't happen. A lot of them had a right good go at it."
Celtic are also unlikely to make any major moves when the transfer window opens next month after their European exit.
"We have targets and then you have got to narrow it down, which ones we can afford in the financial package," Strachan said.
"If there is nothing there, we just get on with it. You are always looking to make your squad better, players understand that. We will keep working."
Norwegian full-back Erlend Hanstveit is currently on trial with Celtic.
Strachan, meanwhile, has been linked with the Sunderland job after winning another Scottish manager of the month award.
