Sinead O’Connor’s conversion to the Muslim religion (first reported by Irish Voice/IrishCentral) was a very logical step.

Sinead has continuously courted controversy over her religious choices from tearing up the Pope’s picture to becoming a female Catholic priest.

Sinead has never followed the crowd, far from it, and choosing the Muslim faith which has been slammed for its practices, many of them anti-women, certainly won her the attention she craves.

We may well see her convert to Judaism or Bahai if this keeps up as she continues her frontal assault on Catholicism in the old meaning of the world.

This is to announce that I am proud to have become a Muslim. This is the natural conclusion of any intelligent theologian’s journey. All scripture study leads to Islam. Which makes all other scriptures redundant. I will be given (another) new name. It will be Shuhada’

She clearly links the church to the cruelty of her upbringing where she was abused mercilessly by her mother, according to her own account

Rather than deal with her private demons in private she became famous and given that celebrity is so often confused with leadership, she has a powerful voice.

She was a visionary in some ways predicting the sexual abuse scandals in the Catholic Church before everyone. She certainly caused ructions on that night by tearing up a picture of John Paul on “Saturday Night Live” and shouting “Fight the real evil.”

But it has become evident that all is not well with her for some time and she sparked a suicide scare when making a plea for help video in the US about two years ago.

She is complex, brilliant as a performer, prophetic in some of her utterances but deeply troubled.

Her latest conversion will likely not be her last. We should hope and pray that the deeper problems that surround all her utterances now are somehow resolved so she can find peace again.

Thank you so much to all my Muslim brothers and sisters who have been so kind as to welcome me to Ummah today on this page. You can’t begin to imagine how much your tenderness means to me ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

The following Muslim prayer is to Allah and it seeks peace for all. May Sinead too find it:

“Liberate us from darkness by Your light,

save us from enormities whether open or hidden.

Bless us in our ears, eyes, hearts, spouses, and children.

Turn to us; truly you are Oft-Returning, Most Merciful.”
