The news of Schlossberg’s death was shared by the JFK Library Foundation on behalf of the extended family following her passing on Tuesday, December 30.

"Our beautiful Tatiana passed away this morning. She will always be in our hearts," read the post, which was signed by the Kennedy family.

The 35-year-old had revealed an acute myeloid leukemia diagnosis following her second daughter’s birth in an essay in the New Yorker last month.

Just hours after the tragic announcement of Tatiana’s death, Trump took to Truth Social to share screenshots of his supporters mocking the family.

The posts shared by Trump did not mention Tatiana by name but ridiculed the Kennedy family for their response to Trump’s decision to add his name to the Kennedy Center.

"The Kennedy Family have LONG neglected the Kennedy Center, btw," one of Trump’s reposts read.

The US president also shared a screenshot of another supporter saying: "The Trumps have always been supporters of the arts. The Kennedys are supporters of the Kennedys."

"They don’t raise money for it. They never show up. And the only Kennedy who has been there recently is a member of Trump’s cabinet," another of Trump’s reposts read.

The Kennedy Center is a historic performance venue in Washington DC which was dedicated to JFK following his assassination in 1963. Recently, Trump has decided to add his name to the iconic arts centre.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced on December 18 that the board of the venue had "voted unanimously" to rename the building to the "Trump-Kennedy Center".

The following day, locals noticed that work crews had added "The Donald Trump and" above the previously existing lettering – "The John F.Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts."

The decision has caused much controversy amongst the Kennedy family. Tatiana’s brother, Jack Schlossberg, took to X to claim that "microphones were muted" during the board vote and that the decision was "NOT unanimous".

This comment aligned with comments made by Ohio Representative Joyce Beatty, who said she had been "muted on the call and not allowed to speak or voice my opposition to this move."

Other Kennedys have suggested a legal challenge to Trump’s decision. Joe Kennedy III, the grandson of Robert F. Kennedy, pointed out that the center was named by federal law and "can no sooner be renamed than can someone rename the Lincoln Memorial."
