Ireland's Ambassador to the US Dan Mulhall recently paid a visit to the Guinness Open Gate Brewery and Tap Room, just outside of Baltimore, Maryland.

Shortly after the Guinness Open Gate Brewery and Tap Room welcomed its 100,000th visitor (after opening only three months prior), the Guinness haven just outside of Baltimore, Maryland, welcomed another high-profile visitor: Irish Ambassador to the US Dan Mulhall.

Last week, Ambassador Mulhall and Dale Crammond, Ireland's Agriculture and Food Counsellor at the Embassy of Ireland in Washington, DC, paid a visit to Guinness' first US-based brewery in over 60 years.

In a tweet, Ambassador Mulhall shared how impressed he was with the brewery, in addition to some fascinating facts about the strong links between Guinness and the US.

Just visited the impressive new #Guinness brewery in #Baltimore. It has attracted 100,000 visitors in 3 months. Each year, 2 million kegs of Guinness are exported from Ireland to the #USA. For example, did you know that 2 million kegs of Guinness are exported from Ireland to the US each year? Or that all of the beers brewed at the Guinness US brewery still contain a little piece of Ireland in the form of barley roast?

We'll cheers to that!

Counsellor Crammond shared his delight at having such an iconic Irish brand set up its first US home in decades such a short distance away from Washington, DC:

Ambassador @DanMulhall and I had a great visit to the @GuinnessUS Open Gate Brewery and Barrel House in Baltimore today. A very impressive facility, promoting such an iconic Irish brand, located right on our doorstops! They have had 100k visitors since opening in August! pic.twitter.com/lQCUiA6cNa
