The 35-year-old was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia shortly after giving birth in 2024, as doctors noticed abnormalities in her blood. Tatiana was feeling perfectly healthy at the time, describing herself as 'one of the healthiest people' she knew.

The proud mum-of-two had just welcomed her daughter, alongside her husband, George Moran. She spent five weeks at the hospital after giving birth to her little girl, before being transferred to Memorial Sloan Kettering for a bone-marrow transplant.

Tatiana, who is the granddaughter of John F Kennedy, also underwent chemotherapy at home. However, she was told by doctors that she only has a year to live.

She opened up about her harrowing experience in an essay she wrote, published by The New Yorker.

"I did not — could not — believe that they were talking about me. I had swum a mile in the pool the day before, nine months pregnant. I wasn’t sick. I didn’t feel sick. I was actually one of the healthiest people I knew," she wrote.

Tatiana explained that her family has rallied around her during this difficult time, with her husband George doing "everything he possibly could" to help her.

She added that her family, including her famous parents, Caroline and Edwin Schlossberg, and siblings.

"My parents and my brother and sister, too, have been raising my children and sitting in my various hospital rooms almost every day for the last year and a half," she wrote.

"They have held my hand unflinchingly while I have suffered, trying not to show their pain and sadness to protect me from it. This has been a great gift, even though I feel their pain every day."
