Irish women are fastest to cheat after getting married - here's why

Research carried out by a website known for 'extramarital fun' has revealed that Irish women are quickest to play away from home.

Research carried out by a website known for 'extramarital fun' has revealed that Irish women are quickest to play away from home.

The website, Victoria Milan, claims it has 70,000 Irish members amongst its 5.8 million users worldwide.

A study carried out by the site has found that married Irish women who do stray tend to embark after just 3.6 years.

Research also unveiled that the average Irish woman says 'I do' when they are 31.6 years old - however the average age for women to cheat is 35.2 years old.

Sigurd Vedal, founder of Victoria Milan, told the Irish Mirror that, "The results of this research are fascinating, as they reveal how much time many women are willing to invest in a marriage before seeking new adventure."

“In Ireland, married women starting an affair tend to wait between three and four years after getting married, which suggests their craving for fresh passion is higher than many of us would expect," he noted.

Swedish women are in second place in the list of those most likely to cheat. According to Victoria Milan, Swedes cheat after 4.1 years in a marriage, while UK women stray after 4.4 years.

Norwegian women tend to cheat after 5.5 years, and French women are likely to 'do the dirt' after 5.7 years.

“In Scandinavia and France, of course, views on sexuality and romance are famously different to those in the UK, so it’s a surprise to see women more likely to start affairs in less time there than in the aforementioned countries," Vedal added.

As for the women who round out the top ten? Danes, Germans, Portuguese, Greek, and Italians are all 'fastest' to cheat after getting hitched.
