The ceremony took place this evening (February 9) at the Dublin Convention Centre — the first time the awards has been held on Irish soil.

A Michelin Star is one of the highest, most prestigious honours in the culinary world and is awarded by the Michelin Guide based on strict and anonymous inspections.

On Monday, The Pullman Restaurant at Glenlo Abbey Hotel & Estate received its first star, just under a year after they reopened with the ambition to be Michelin-recognised.

Housed within two original, meticulously restored carriages from the legendary Orient Express, the restaurant is under the stewardship of Head Chef Angelo Vagiotis.

General Manager at Glenlo Abbey Hotel & Estate Rónán O’Halloran expressed their pride following recognition by the prestigious guide.

"It certainly is a very proud moment for both the front and back of house teams who have worked incredibly hard to achieve our ambitious goal," he confirmed.

The restaurant was praised by the Michelin Guide for their distinctive setting and culinary excellence.

They said they had been expecting a "unique setting" when booking a table at a famed restaurant.

"Nothing could have prepared me for the absolute splendour of this restaurant," they added, "Stepping inside was like a portal to another time and place.

"The cooking lived up to the surroundings, with outstanding produce and skilful execution. The carriages may be motionless, but my experience was still full of emotion."

Head Chef Angelo Vagiotis most recently served as the inaugural head chef at Terre Restaurant, Castlemartyr Resort, where he led the restaurant to two Michelin Stars and a "Hotel Restaurant of the Year" award within just 18 months.

Dublin 4 restaurant Forest Avenue also picked up their first-ever Michelin Star with chef John Wyer visibly emotional at the plaudit.

"We run a lovely authentic restaurant in Dublin 4, and that’s what gets us up in the morning," John said when accepting the award, "When you love what you do, it’s easy and we love what we do."

Other wins on the night include Barbara Nealon from St Francis Provisions in Kinsale, Co Cork, who was awarded a Michelin Service Award given to acknowledge front-of-house teams with exceptional service and professionalism.

No Irish restaurants were upgraded to two-star awards, however Cork’s Terre were in celebratory form for keeping the two they had in tow.

The milestone comes following the appointment of Executive Chef Lewis Barker in September 2025, who said he was "deeply honoured."

He said: "This recognition reflects the passion, discipline, and collaboration of everyone at Terre, and I am proud of what we continue to build together."
