Guinness Open Gate Brewery in Dublin to play host to new LCD Soundsystem exhibition, including never before seen photographs and artworks of the iconic band

This June, the Guinness Open Gate Brewery will be home to the new LCD Soundsystem exhibition. Fans will be able to visit the brewery to view an exclusive exhibition of never seen before photographs and artworks of the iconic band.

Ruvan Wijesooriya’s photography collection is a colorful spectacle documenting LCD Soundsystem’s journey to stardom, will give visitors an intimate look at the details. These up close and personal images capture the true essence of the band in this must-see exhibition.

In addition, Wijesooriya has collaborated with artist Joe Henry to create 11 paintings to go alongside the photographs and re-create LCD Pop Artworks in his own artistic language. This is a follow up to the recent success of 'The Lost Warhols' exhibition at Brown Thomas, a high-end department store in Dublin, which Joe Henry also curated.

Joe Henry, exhibition curator said, “Ruvan is the official photographer for LCD and has the best collection of the band I have ever seen.  His access and friendship with LCD is something rare in the commercialized and controlled music industry of today, and this close relationship can be seen in the rapport between photographer and subject.

“He shot the two covers for 'This is Happening' and 'Bye Bye Bayou'. His work is purely documentary style, living with the band in LA and NYC and documenting them in the studio, on the road and live. We both discussed collaborating on this exhibition and me doing a ' Remix ' of his original photography, putting my own pop art spin on top of his photos.” 

The exhibition will be on display to the public during general Guinness Open Gate Brewery hours, Thursday and Friday from 5:30 pm - 10:30 pm and Saturdays from 2.00pm – 8.00pm. Tickets are priced at €9 each and include a tasting paddle. To purchase tickets, visit - www.guinnessopengate.com.

To kick start the exhibition, an exclusive DJ set by Pat Mahoney of LCD Soundsystem will take place at the Brewery on 1st June. Tickets to the launch event are priced at €25 each and are on a first-come-first-served basis with limited spaces available.
