Vistors to Covent Garden, London have a spectacular new destination to add to their itinerary as Diageo unveils a massive Guinness experience in the heart of the city. This state-of-the-art facility marks a significant expansion for the brand and promises an immersive dive into the history and future of Ireland's most famous export.

The new Guinness Open Gate Brewery, located in Covent Garden, London, and represents a major investment of £73 million by the parent company Diageo. This location, known as Old Brewer's Yard, is steeped in history and beer production. Brewing took place here more than 300 years ago and the new opening marks a symbolic return of the craft to this specific corner of the capital.

The venue covers a staggering 54,000 square feet and is designed to be much more than just a pub. Opening its doors on Thursday, the attraction will function as a working microbrewery, visitor attraction, community hub, and dining destination.

The sheer scale of the project reflects the enduring popularity of the stout and it's worth considering the fact that one in every seven pints poured in London today is a Guinness.

Visitors to the Guinness Open Gate Brewery can expect a variety of unique experiences. Master Brewer Hollie Stephenson is set to lead the brewing team to create limited-edition craft beers and seasonal specials. These will include non-stout varieties and low-alcohol options.

Purists need not worry about the quality of the classic pint. The standard Guinness Draught and Guinness 0.0 served at the venue will continue to be brewed at the legendary St. James's Gate in Dublin. These are then transported to London to ensure the authentic taste remains consistent.

The site features two restaurants led by acclaimed British chef Pip Lacey. The menus will showcase locally sourced produce. They are designed to offer inventive pairing suggestions with the various beers on offer. There is also a courtyard bar and eatery situated on the ground level. This area is intended for more casual dining and community gatherings.

Diageo has also integrated a high-tech element into the tour. A 360-degree digital experience tells the story of Guinness in London. It highlights the long relationship between the Irish brewer and the British capital. The tour also includes exclusive tasting sessions.

Barry O’Sullivan, Managing Director, Diageo Great Britain, said: “This iconic stout has always been about bringing people together, and Open Gate Brewery London builds on that tradition, creating a vibrant space where both visitors and the local community can connect, celebrate, and experience the very best of Guinness hospitality.”

This London location is the fourth Open Gate Brewery in the world. It joins the original experimental taproom in Dublin as well as locations in Baltimore and Chicago. Each site is designed to blend local culture with Irish brewing expertise.
