Colin Farrell, Sharon Horgan, and Ruth Negga were all named among the 2025 Emmy Award nominees, which were announced today, Tuesday, July 15.

Dublin native Farrell landed his first-ever Emmy nomination as he landed a nod for his role as Oswald "Oz" Cobb in "The Penguin" in the Outstanding Lead Actor In A Limited Or Anthology Series Or Movie category.

Farrell is up against Stephen Graham ("Adolescence"), Jake Gyllenhaal ("Presumed Innocent"), Brian Tyree Henry ("Dope Thief"), and Cooper Koch ("Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story") for the award.

For his role in "The Penguin," Farrell has already won a Golden Globe, a SAG Award, a Critics' Choice Award, and an IFTA.

Farrell's "The Penguin" co-star Cristin Milioti has been nominated in the Outstanding Lead Actress In A Limited Or Anthology Series Or Movie category.

"The Penguin" has also been nominated in the Outstanding Limited Or Anthology Series category alongside "Adolescence" (Netflix), "Black Mirror" (Netflix), "Dying for Sex" (FX), and "Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story" (Netflix).

Meanwhile, Sharon Horgan, who was raised in Co Meath, has been nominated in the Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series category for her role in the second season of her hit show "Bad Sisters." It's the show's only nomination.

Horgan is up against Kathy Bates ("Matlock"), Britt Lower ("Severance"), Bella Ramsey ("The Last of Us"), and Keri Russell ("The Diplomat").

Horgan was previously Emmy-nominated for the first season of "Bad Sisters" in 2023, in both the Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series category and the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series category.

Horgan was also previously nominated in 2016 in the Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series category for "Catastrophe."

Ruth Negga, who was raised in Co Limerick, was nominated in the Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Limited Or Anthology Series Or Movie category for her role in "Presumed Innocent."

Negga is up against Erin Doherty ("Adolescence"), Deirdre O'Connell ("The Penguin"), Chloë Sevigny ("Monsters: The Lyle And Erik Menendez Story"), Jenny Slate ("Dying for Sex"), and Christine Tremarco ("Adolescence").

Negga's "Presumed Innocent" co-stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Bill Camp, Peter Sarsgaard also received acting nominations today. 

It is Negga's first Primetime Emmy, though in 2019, she was nominated in the Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program category for "Angela's Christmas" at the Daytime Emmy Awards.

Elsewhere, the Disney+ series "Andor" was nominated in the Outstanding Drama Series category. The series features two Irish actresses, Genevieve O'Reilly and Denise Gough.

The 77th Emmy Awards will be broadcast live on Sunday, September 14 on the CBS Television Network and will be available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+.
