Cillian Murphy’s son Aran has been cast in an upcoming drama starring screen legends including Dominic West and Sienna Miller.

Cillian and his wife, Yvonne McGuinness, share two sons — with Aran set to follow in his Oscar-winning dad’s footsteps after being cast in WAR, an upcoming Sky/HBO drama series.

Aran’s agency congratulated the young Murphy on the upcoming role, posting on Instagram ‘We are thrilled to announce that Aran Murphy has joined the cast of WAR, the upcoming HBO and Sky co-production.’

'Aran will star as Gabriel in the gripping new series lead by Dominic West and Sienna Miller.’

Written by Hijack co-creator George Kay, WAR follows two of London’s most prestigious rival law firms in Catcharts and Taylor & Byrne as they go head-to-head in the divorce case of the century. With each side certain they’ll win, the case spirals with loyalties fracturing, as well as reputations on the line and everyone playing to win.

Deadline report that Dominic West, who played Prince Charles in The Crown, and Sienna Miller, whose credits include The Girl and American Sniper, will be cast in the leading roles as tech titan Morgan Henderson and his estranged wife, respectively. The Thursday Murder Club’s Celia Imrie and Ted Lasso’s Nick Mohammed have been cast in a semi-reunion — as both were on The Celebrity Traitors.

The show will air on Sky in Ireland, the UK, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and Austria, while in the US it will air on HBO and stream on HBO Max.

Cillian’s son being cast in his first major role comes as Cillian will be putting the flat cap back on to reprise his role as Tommy Shelby in the upcoming Peaky Blinders film — with a sequel series to the iconic show being confirmed earlier this month.

Kudos and Garrison Drama will produce the show which is set to be filmed at Digbeth Loc Studios in Birmingham.

A ‘thrilled’ Stephen confirmed: ‘Once again it will be rooted in Birmingham and will tell the story of a city rising from the ashes of the Birmingham blitz.

'The new generation of Shelbys have taken the wheel and it will be a hell of a ride.’

The two new series would both feature six 60-minute long episodes which will be streamed on BBC iPlayer and BBC One in the UK as well as Netflix worldwide.
