Irish actress Caitriona Balfe has applauded the bravery of the two women who confronted Senator Jeff Flake in an elevator and shared their stories of sexual assault.

Maria Gallagher and Ana Maria Archila broke through a mob of reporters to confront the senator on his support for Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

The senator has since requested a one week delay on the full Senate vote so that the FBI can conduct an investigation into Dr Christine Blasey Ford’s sexual assault allegations against Kavanaugh.

Gallagher, 23, took to Twitter to say she was “relieved” Flake heard their voices.
