Aisling Bea is joining forces with Hollywood greats Brendan Fraser and Jeff Daniels in what promises to be her biggest role yet.

The Irish actress, 42, has joined the cast of Starman, a cosmic sci-fi thriller.

Per the Hollywood Reporter, it 'follows Tom Adams (Fraser), an architect of the future who launches a historic expedition to Mars, positioning himself at the forefront of humanity's next great frontier'.

'But when unexpected events leave him stranded millions of miles from Earth, his mission becomes a race against time — driven by survival and love.'

So, what exactly is Aisling's role? The Kildare woman is set to play Julia Hanley, 'a defiant and magnetic Irish photographer who sees past Tom’s world-changing ambition to the man beneath it, redefining his life through love'.

Emmy Award winner Josh Wakely is directing the film from his original screenplay. The cast is currently Down Under filming.

Confirming the news on Friday, Aisling jested at her co-star Brendan's previous role in The Whale, writing: 'I’m having a whale of a time.'

Aisling's acting career began as all good Irish acting careers do, on Fair City. From there, she went on to appear in various RTÉ and BBC shows, and starred alongside Amy Huberman in Finding Joy.

The mum-of-one will also appear in Netflix's upcoming adaptation of Marian Keyes' Grown Ups.

Recently, it was reported that Aisling is set to star alongside Kate Hudson and Javier Bardem in a new Sleepless in Seattle-esque rom-com.

The actress will also star opposite Phil Dunster, Gemma Chan and Marianne Jean-Baptiste for the upcoming romantic movie, Hello & Paris, which is being produced by Amazon MGM Studios.

Aisling said of the project: 'We are currently filming this gorgeous rom-com and having a very lovely time, and the food is very good, and the film is even better than the food.'

She's on a roll!
