It's set to be an incredible few months for creative events in Ireland with an amazing array of events set out county-by-county in a new Creative Ireland supplement.

After a hectic six months and hundreds of consultations and debates in every county about culture, citizenship and identity, each of the 31 Local Authorities has now published its first Culture and Creativity Plan for 2017.

The Irish Independent recently released a special county-by-county guide on how you can get your creative juices flowing in 2017. This special supplement is an invitation to everyone to get involved, participate and enjoy a wide range of cultural activities right on your doorstep.

Summer 2017 showcases a wealth of events, festivals and creative activities to get involved in all over the country.

From June’s Dalkey Book Festival to July’s Galway International Arts Festival and Kilkenny Arts Festival in August, to the festivals wrapping up the summer season – MindField at Electric Picnic in Laois and Sounds from a Safe Harbour in Cork; the Irish creative calendar is brimming with promise and possibility.

County Cork’s plan includes West Cork Literary Festival in July, County Kildare’s includes the Kildare Town Medieval Festival in August, County Leitrim community groups will be paired with artists to create and collaborate, County Meath’s plan includes visual art projects at the Solstice Arts Centre, while County Wexford will enjoy a musician-in-residence and as well as an impressive concert series.

These are just some of the many Creative Ireland events and initiatives taking place nationwide this summer and beyond, to find out what’s happening in your area, read the county guide here.
