Some confusion was caused when Ed Sheeran’s picture was featured in the obituary of an 82-year-old man.

Icelandic Ed Sheeran fans most definitely spit back out their morning coffee in horror this week when they opened up their paper to see singer Sheeran featured on the obituary page.

Not happy with just gatecrashing weddings (and generally appearing in any place or song that he possibly can), Sheeran is now even making appearances at the death of his fans, his image being shown alongside the obituary of an 82-year-old Icelandic man.

Svavari Gunnari Sigurðsson, a mechanic for Volvo, is believed to have spent his free time working as an Ed Sheeran tribute artist and so editors of newspaper Morgunbladid decided to publish the English pop superstar's face in the obituary instead of Sigurðsson himself.

The image of Sheeran’s apparent obit has now gone viral after it was tweeted by Icelandic artist Ari Gudmundsson.

The 26-year-old musician generally earns himself something of a love-him or hate-him reaction from music lovers. For those who would not consider themselves diehard Ed fans, you may not have that long to wait until you're spared from new Sheeran music forevermore. Thankfully, however, it won’t be as a result of his death.

Sheeran recently announced his engagement to long-term girlfriend Cherry Seaborn and has stated that he’s ready to give up the music industry as soon as he starts a family.

“My ambition is going to go to zero as soon as I have kids,” he said.

“I am going to be like, ‘I do not really care anymore as I have another life to take care of.’

“It is totally understandable because you have children and your ambition shifts to be like, ‘I want to be a good father.'”

This is not the first time that Sheeran has found himself in a bit of bother in Iceland. He once had to have skin grafts on his foot after slipping into a geyser there.

“I put my foot in a boiling geyser, like a boiling pool on top of a mountain, by mistake,” he told the Big Top 40 radio show.

“It melted all the skin off my foot and then they had to put a skin graft on it. This was on my 25th birthday.

“They were like, ‘Don’t walk over there!’ And I was like, ‘Why?’ Then I just slipped.”
