€10,000 worth of prizes to be won at the Huawei Snapys!

The Huawei Snapys are back for their second year and are already shaping up to be bigger and better than the last. Considering Ireland has more Instagram users (per capita) than the USA and the UK, it’s hardly surprising that last year’s inaugural Snapys was hugely popular with over 38,000 entries which generated 1.5m likes.

We are delighted to announce that this year’s awards ceremony will be held in the Round Room at Dublin's Mansion House on Thursday November 17, expecting a crowd of over 500. Top Instagrammer, author and model Rosanna Davison launched the call out for entries last week for the Huawei Snapys 2016.

Commenting on the success of last year, Connector’s CEO Conor Lynch says “We conjured up a tidal wave of stunning imagery last year and it really showcases the creative eye Irish people have hidden within them. Given the fact 70% of Irish people have a smartphone means anyone can flex their photography muscle and produce wow­factor shots.”

Following the huge success in Ireland, The Snapys platform is now being exported to several other countries worldwide. Connector are thrilled that last year’s winners are already making a career out of their Instagram presence. The 2015 overall winner Sam McAllister, is in the process of launching his watch brand 'Stem Watches', and continues to work as a sports and travel photographer. He recently shot Hozier at Electric Picnic. Lawson Mpame, last year’s Fashion category winner, has gone on to worked with brands such as Tommy Hilfiger, Louis Copeland and Lush.

There are 16 amazing categories to choose from including; Family, Fashion, Health & Fitness, Dublin, Wild Atlantic Way, Best Community, Selfie, Beauty, Food, GAA, Huawei P9, Ireland, People, Pets, Travel and Weather and over €10,000 worth of prizes up for grabs.

The Huawei Snapys overall winner will then go on to the ultimate assignment in Shenzhen, China in January 2017. The winner along with the winners of the other 10 European countries will be sent on an all expenses trip to Shenzhen to capture nine images over 1 week coached by 4 mentors.
