Ireland won a hard fought victory against outsiders Samoa at the Aviva stadium on Saturday but coach Declan Kidney was unhappy with the 20-10 victory.

"We're not exactly firing on all cylinders," Kidney,, told a news conference.

"Obviously we weren't as clinical as we would like to be and we know that we have a huge amount of work to do. We wouldn't hide behind any of that but Samoa were very strong up front."

"I'm glad they're not in our World Cup group, they're a tough physical side and it was a bit of an arm wrestle for long periods of the game, certainly in the second half."

Ronan O'Gara was the star. He scored two first-half penalties, and his second half try was enough to see Ireland through.
