The Script will be touring the U.S. this summer as part of a tour package called “The Mermaids of Alcatraz” led by the rock band Train that includes Gavin DeGraw.
Danny O'Donoghue is the Script's charismatic vocalist and keyboard player. He is joined by guitarist Mark Sheehan and drummer Glen Power.
The band has had a meteoric rise since their first album and their infectious blend of hip hop rhythms, flowing melodies, sparkling hooks and emotive, story-spinning lyrics. O’Donoghue had been working hard years before that, with stints both in front of the microphone as part of a boy band called Mytown and behind the scenes as a songwriter/producer.
Each subsequent Script album has been bigger than the last, with their latest, #3, producing a monster hit that includes the platinum selling duet “Hall of Fame” with Black Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am.
"We've gone from playing small clubs to performing in theatres, at festivals and in stadiums," says Sheehan in a press release. "It's a little bit shocking to us as a new band, playing to these mass audiences. And we feel we have to touch everybody, hit every person out there."
Fans of Train, you have been warned! Tour dates include July 23 at Jones Beach on Long Island, and the 28th at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, New Jersey. For more information visit www.thescriptmusic.com.
