Dublin man Thomas Smyth (29) just had what sounds like the best week ever, and we'd like to give him a big high-five.

First, Smyth and his partner Lisa got the exciting news they are expecting their first baby.

Then, Smyth, who had been unemployed for a while, started his new full-time job as a delivery driver for Supervalu.

To celebrate, he and Lisa got a couple of €10 All Cash Spectacular lotto cards and...  the week got even better when they discovered they had won €25,000 ($29,380)!

The couple, from Ballymun, are over the moon. “With the week we’ve both had, it still doesn’t feel real," Smyth told reporters in the National Lottery winners' room.

"We’ve had a life-changing few days so we were feeling incredibly lucky as we bought the scratch card yesterday evening. We saw the €25,000 as we scratched but we assumed we must have made a mistake!”

According to TodayFM, this turn of fortune couldn't have happened at a better time, as Smyth had been searching for a job for a while and he and Lisa had previously gone through a miscarriage.

The couple said they plan on using their winnings to prepare for the arrival of their baby early next year.

Congratulations!
