A month’s worth of rain is expected to hit Ireland this weekend as a major storm approaches, the first of the season.

A Met Eireann (Irish weather service) spokesperson stated high winds and driving rains will create a weather nightmare.

Close to four inches of rain are expected over the weekend leading to a yellow rainfall warning. “There will be very intense rain and heavy showers throughout the country, again with southern and western countries worst affected”.

“Obviously with the high winds and rain there will be an issue with fallen trees”.

Police have asked the public to be very careful as conditions worsen and electricity crews are on high alert expecting major power cuts.
