The Son, AMC’s western series starring Pierce Brosnan, will set in a few weeks after a two-season run.  But the Wild West has big appeal for the Meath native, and he’d relish the chance to get his gun out for another similar role.

“I would love to do this kind of work again, of course,” PB told People magazine. “I love horses, I love being on horses, riding them, and the Western culture.”

The Son’s second season starts airing on Saturday at 9 p.m.  Pierce plays the cattle baron Eli McCullough, as written by Philipp Meyer in his 2013 novel also called The Son.

“I hadn’t played a Texan before,” Brosnan told People.  “I have never played a patriarchal character like this. I have never been in what is a western and I have never played someone who is kind of filled with so much violence.”

He’s quite pleased with the finished product.

“I think it is a wonderful season,” he says. “It is still the same trials and tribulations of the McCulloughs and the consequences of their actions and my character Eli.”

An actor who’s constantly in demand, Pierce is currently in New York filming False Positive with Justin Theroux and Ilana Glazer.  The flick sees Pierce playing a fertility doctor treating a couple played by Justin and Ilana, but he’s hardly a good doc – he tricks them into using his sperm to get pregnant with.

The website Collider calls it a “psychological horror movie,” and Pierce and Justin were filmed on location in Manhattan on Monday.
