An incredible mega millions jackpot win has set up this 20-year-old Irish American for life.

We all dream about what we’d do if we ever had a bit more, okay a LOT more, money lying in our bank accounts.

According to a friend, Maine-raised Florida-based Irish American Shane Missler's  dream was as simple: he hoped one day to own a a place that would have enough space for a dog.  But he was still only 20-years old and that dream was something he could only hope to achieve when he was much older..

Missler was, however, greatly mistaken. He now has more than enough cash to set himself up in a home that would have space for not just one dog but for as many pets as he desires.

On January 5, Missler won the  fourth-largest Mega Millions jackpot of all time – a mind-boggling $451 million. After taxes, he may have just received a lump sum of $211,406,249.25 but its still much more money than your average 20-year-old, or anybody of any age for that matter, could ever have imagined having.

Since his massive win, Missler, who grew up in Augusta, Maine, is said to have attempted to stay out of the spotlight as much as possible, although his hometown is reported to be delighted at the young man’s massive win.

"The power of positive thinking should not be underestimated!" he posted on Twitter not long after he discovered that one of the five quick picks he'd purchased at a 7-Eleven store had made him the sole winner of the jackpot.

"If there is one thing I have learned thus far in my short time on this earth it is that those who maintain a positive mindset and stay true to themselves get rewarded," Missler said in a short statement as he dropped off the winning ticket to Florida Lottery headquarters in Tallahassee.

"I look forward to the future."

"Although I’m young, I’ve had a crash course this week in financial management and I feel so fortunate to have this incredible wealth and team behind me," Missler said in his statement to the Tampa Bay Times.

Thank you everyone for the positive thoughts 🙏🏻 This is only the beginning. I am truly grateful and most appreciative. pic.twitter.com/mtzYUCQ5mQ

"I intend to take care of my family, have some fun along the way and cement a path for financial success so that I can leave a legacy far into the future."

The 20-year-old moved to Port Richey, Florida, shortly after graduating, following his father to the Sunshine State where he relocated for a job.

He lost his mother to cancer in 2006. Anne-Marie Missler (maiden name Maloney) was said to have “cherished her Irish heritage.”

In addition to being able to find space for a dog or two, Missler can look forward to some good seats watching his favorites, the Boston Celtics.
