Ireland’s most famous priest, Fr Ray Kelly who became an internet sensation earlier this week, is back with his biggest performance to date.

Fr Kelly was invited onto Ireland’s flagship talk show The Late Late Show, to perform the Leonard Cohen hit ‘Hallelujah’ following the success of his wedding performance that went viral.

The wedding of Chris and Leah O’Kane has become something of a sensation after Father Kelly went to the altar and sang “Hallelujah.”

Chris and Leah who are on their Honeymoon in Mexico sent a special message to the man who has made their wedding extra special. Leah,the young bride promised to be back down in the parish on her return and told Fr Kelly she wants the ‘cup of tea’ he promised on her return.

“We thank you father for sharing your special talent with us.” added Leah.

Fr Kelly said the success of the wedding video has been extraordinary and credits the song choice to the popularity of talent show the X-factor.

The now famous priest came to the priesthood late in life at the age of 27, having spent a few years working as a civil servant. He credits Pope John Paul II as being a huge influence on his chosen vocation.

The popular priest said he had been invited to a wedding in Japan and Brazil and laughed by saying “I’m going to have a great time.”

The clip from the mass where he serenaded the young couple with the Leonard Cohen classic has has close to 15  million views on YouTube and he is the talk of the village square in Oldcastle and all over Ireland, England, America and now the world.
