Team Aisling, with over 200 runners, participating in the October Yonkers Marathon launch their training for this year's road to success.

On Friday, June 22 Team Aisling held their Summer Launch for the Aisling Irish Community Center’s Team training for this year’s Yonkers Marathon with over 100 in attendance at J.P. Clarke’s in Yonkers.

Team Aisling has over 200 runners participating in the Yonkers Marathon on October 21.

Runners are coming from Westchester, Rockland, New Jersey, NYC and the boroughs; to as far away as Ireland, choose the Marathon, Half Marathon or 5K to run.

Team Aisling has runners who are challenging themselves to their first 5K, as well as experienced runners that run marathons every year.

Team Aisling is providing tools and information for them to train, meet up and get ready. They are coming together with a common goal, to create awareness and raise funds for the Aisling Irish Community Center and the programs and services the center provides.

Attending the launch was Phil Traynor, President, All Boro Flooring who said, “I have been involved with the Aisling Center since it was founded. Started out feeding the homeless and the center has grown tremendously since then. I have always been a huge supporter of a community effort so I am happy to be part of Team Aisling and make it a success.”

Aisling Irish Community Center provides resources and a community respite to the Bronx, Yonkers, Queens and the entire tristate area. The Aisling Irish Community Center’s Mental Health Programs include; free and confidential counseling services with a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Life Coach with extensive mental health experience in supporting individuals, children, families and groups.

Services are provided at the center, off-site and via phone and email, all aimed at providing a comfortable and private experience. In addition, we cover a health and wellness campaign in the Irish/Irish American community and a suicide prevention program targeted at the entire community. Monthly workshops on mental health issues are ongoing, issues including; depression, domestic violence, drug and alcohol dependency, and suicide.

The center provides an Irish arts and culture program including classes in Irish language, music and dance; assistance with employment & accommodation; services for Senior Citizens; various classes for adults and children and weekly AA meetings. Our educational, cultural and welfare programs/services benefit over 900 people each week. The Irish Volunteers for the Homeless program is a weekly feeding program, delivering food to the homeless at numerous locations throughout New York City.
