From Seaside Heights to Jersey City - the Shore is coming alive this March with St. Patrick's Day celebrations!

The Belmar Lake Como St. Patrick's Day parade started in 1974 and it is always held on the first Sunday in March. The parade with nearly 6,000 marchers, more than 40 bands, and some 100,000 spectators has grown into one of the largest and best-attended parades in New Jersey.

We take the celebration of our Irish heritage seriously here in Jersey and if you missed this parade on Sunday, New Jersey has a total of 22 various parades happening between now and St. Patrick's Day.

I attended an after-parade party on Sunday at the Anchor Tavern on Main Street in Belmar where The Snakes, a popular local band, entertained the crowd with their upbeat mix of Irish tunes keeping the lively crowd on their feet all afternoon.  Popular songs like Wild Rover and Galway Girl turned into sing-a-longs and their cover of Bruce Springsteen's Jersey Girl was a crowd favorite.
