Friends on both sides of the Atlantic paid tribute to Mike Flynn who had moved to the US almost 30 years ago.
Tributes were paid today to Mike Flynn, 50, a Cork man who died on a construction site in Florida. He was buried in his native Cork on Thursday afternoon.
Flynn had relocated to the US almost 30 years ago and worked in construction in New York. He died on a construction site in Florida where he was helping a friend with a personal building project.
During the course of the work, it is understood that Flynn fell from a roof and suffered severe head and back injuries. Emergency services were called but the 50-year-old was pronounced dead shortly afterward.
His body was repatriated to his native Conna in East Cork as friends and family on both sides of the Atlantic mourned his sudden loss.
Flynn is survived by his mother Margaret, his sister Therese, his son John, who is a member of the US military, and his grandchild Emma.
His body was received into St Catherine’s Church in Conna before a burial took place afterward in the local cemetery.
