Sean Nolan will remain in custody until his next court date on October 30
Sean Nolan, 34 years old, has been charged with the murder of his partner Amanda Carroll.
Nolan, who lives in Dublin, was arrested on Sunday evening, just hours after Carroll’s body was found by her 16-year-old son in her apartment.
Nolan was charged in the early hours of Monday morning and was brought before Dublin District Court on Tuesday morning where he was charged with Amanda Carroll’s murder.
During the hearing, which lasted only a few minutes, Detective Garda Aidan Flanagan said that when the charge was put to Nolan “he made no reply.”
The Dublin District Court cannot issue bail for murder cases, it would have to be appealed to Dublin’s High Court. Nolan is to remain in custody until his next ordered court appearance, which is October 30.
Nolan was granted legal aid and has not indicated how he will plead to the charges.
On Sunday, Amanda Carroll was found dead in her apartment by her 16-year-old son. A postmortem showed that t33-year-old mother of two died by strangulation.
Gardai believe that judging by the marks and bruising on Carrol’s body, that she was killed “in all probability she was murdered by a man well known to her.”
On Facebook, Carroll and Nolan are listed publicly as in a relationship together and are both in each other’s profile pictures.
