Family, friends, and neighbors in Ireland are in mourning after the gruesome discovery of Amanda Carroll's body.

Young mum Amanda Carroll was found apparently strangled to death.

Her body was discovered by her 16-year-old son in their Dublin home. She also had a younger son (5).

It is reported that the 33-year-old had been involved in an argument with a man known to her on Saturday night outside her apartment in Cabra.

The most recent photo uploaded to her Facebook page, which is public, shows an image of the woman with her two front teeth knocked out and her gums bleeding.

The inner city Dublin native called for help and named a man in the shocking photo upload.

Comments suggest that the man mentioned is the father of her two children, but not her current partner.

Independent.ie reports that the bruising and marks found on the woman's head and neck implied that she was "in all probability ... murdered by a man well known to her.”

A 35-year-old man has been arrested in the area of Dublin 7 - officers are not looking for anyone else in connection with this investigation. He is currently detained in Mountjoy prison.

Tributes have been made to the woman.

"She was a nice, happy, smiling girl. She was always really jolly," a staff member at a nearby fast-food restaurant told the media.

"It came as a terrible shock when we heard today about the death of a young woman and saw the gardaí at the scene. When I found out I was just so upset," another added.

Former minister Joe Costello, who dealt with residents of the Dublin City Council complex in the past, described the tragedy as “absolutely shocking”.

“It’s certainly very tragic someone would die in what appears to be very violent circumstances. It’s very sad and very tragic. She has two children as well," he told the Irish Mirror.

According to police, investigations into the tragedy are ongoing.
