Catherine Greig, Whitey Bulger's longtime co-runaway girlfriend, has pled not guilty to the crime of harboring a fugitive.

If found guilty to the offense, the sentence could reel in five years behind bars and a fine of $250,000, something that Greig and her lawyers have made it clear that she wants to avoid. According to Boston.com, "she will not cooperate with law enforcement authorities in the case."

“Not while I’m representing her,” continued her attorney Kevin Reddington. “She’s a very strong woman. She’s looking forward to getting out and being with her family.”

Bulger and Greig were arrested at their home in Santa Monica, CA on June 22. They had been living undercover there for a number of years, and authorities say that it was Greig herself who led the police to discover them. Upon further investigation, police discovered practically enough arms to supply a small army, all of which, Bulger complains, his long-time girlfriend Greig knew nothing about. Currently, Bulger has pled not guilty to 19 counts of murder and 32 counts of racketeering, extortion, money laundering, and weapons charges, and is waiting to stand trial.

Expressing that Greig just wants to put the entire ordeal behind her, Reddington said, “We’re looking forward to trying the case.”  As for the possibility of her bail, it is under “careful consideration” by US Magistrate Judge Jennifer Boal.

According to her lawyer, Greig is an excellent candidate for it, summing up plainly, “Where is she going to go?”
