Donegal Square

534 Main Street, Bethlehem, PA

Neville Gardner never intended to open a Celtic gift shop. In fact, he attended Queen’s University in Belfast and worked as a Civil Engineer upon graduation. His office was located in Donegall Square, facing Belfast’s iconic City Hall.

Within a few years, Neville fell in love and relocated to the United States. He traveled home frequently to see family and his aging parents and needed a job that allowed him the flexibility to do so. Every time he went home, people asked him to bring back sweaters, food, and gifts; Neville realized there is a market for authentic gifts from Ireland and the British Isles. In 1985, Donegal Square was born, and the name of the shop reminds him of home.

Donegal Square is on Main Street in the heart of Historic Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and they have been welcoming customers for over 30 years. Donegal Square is a unique Celtic gift shop, and with the attached McCarthy’s Red Stag Pub and Whiskey Bar, they are proud to bill themselves as a truly Celtic destination (no passport required!).

People often call Donegal Square “The Irish Store”, but they carry items from many Celtic Nations, such as beautiful sweaters and woolens, Nicholas Mosse pottery, Shanore and Keith Jack jewelry, Ogham Wishes, and more - including chocolate and biscuits! Donegal Square brings the best of Ireland and the British Isles to the Lehigh Valley.

O'Meara's Irish House

3970 State Highway 42, Fish Creek, WI

For almost 20 years, O'Meara's Irish House in Door County, WI has been delighting visitors and Irish enthusiasts with timeless, high-quality goods.

O'Meara's Irish House began in 1999 when Megan O'Meara and family purchased the store from Tom and Rose Murray.  In 2010, the store itself celebrated its 11th anniversary and underwent a major renovation. With its picturesque cottage setting at the north end of Fish Creek, the store continues to draw visitors and locals alike.

The owners say they are often asked what is an Irish store doing in the middle of a Scandinavian area? As it turns out, many Irish settled in Door County originally, and what’s more, the majority of their customers travel from the Chicago, Milwaukee and beyond.  But good taste is universal and their clientele includes folks of all backgrounds. As they put it, “you don't have to have green blood running through your veins to love high-quality, gorgeous, timeless wools and tweeds.”

The majority of vendors O’Meara’s stocks are are master craftsmen who have been designing and creating for decades, such as John Branigan with Branigan Weavers and John Condron from Fado Jewelry.  They offer gorgeous Aran wool sweaters, stunning Irish jewelry and a full range of Irish giftware, and have an online shop for those who can’t make it to Door County, Wisconsin in person.

Mully’s Celtic Cottage

130 W. Gurley Street, Prescott, AZ

Mully’s is a retail and online store dedicated to the love of Ireland! After traveling to Ireland in May 2011 its owners quickly fell in love with the landscape and people of Ireland, especially the small shops in Dingle, Kilkenny, Dublin, etc. selling Irish goods. Their goal is to provide an online store for everyone to shop the small towns of Ireland in one place.

Mully's Celtic Cottage brings Celtic charm to the mountains and desert of Arizona.

Their original shop was located in Scottsdale on popular 5th Avenue in Old Town, right in front of the famous Bob Parks Horse Fountain, while their newest location is set in the historic, mountain town of Prescott overlooking the courthouse square.

They carry a selection of clothing (including kilts), jewelry, gifts for everyone on your list, as well as pre-packaged and frozen food.

The Celtic Ranch

In the tradition of Irish hospitality, they offer complimentary tea seven days a week. With the Midwest's largest selection of Irish whiskeys, single malt scotch and small batch bourbon and ryes, they also sell "liquid sunshine” by the sample shot or the bottle.

Terry Kast started the Celtic Ranch 11 years ago with a love of horses and a passion for all things Irish. Terry says “each customer makes a BIG difference for a small business. We hope you feel that way!” Terry lives on 49 acres, owns six horses and is 3/4 Irish and 1/4 German descent. As she explains it, “The Irish makes me enjoy life and the German makes me get up and work".

The Irish Gift Shop

26 Cuna Street, St. Augustine, FL

Patricia and Joe Maher opened the Irish Gift Shop in 1984 near the present location of the Columbia Restaurant. The store measured 10 x 12. Patricia jokes that the store was so small that “when people came in she would have to go out!”

Within two years the Mahers expanded into a 3,000 sq ft building at 139 St. George Street at the corner of Treasury.  Joe Maher was one of the founding members of the Hibernia Regiment, a group of Historical Re-enactors that celebrate the 400-year-old Celtic Heritage of St. Augustine.  The store flourished for many years and in 2001 the Mahers decided to retire and sold the business to David and Jan Perkins from Dublin Ireland.

The store moved to the Heritage Walk in 2009 and in 2016 was finally relocated to 26 Cuna Street under the proprietorship of Grace Reed and Linda Campbell. If you come on the right day, you may get homemade Irish Soda Bread and Tea. If nothing else, you’ll get a warm welcome. Nowadays, Irish heritage being as widespread as it is, many people come in to see a little glimpse of their Irish Culture. As they say, “we have gifts for the Irish in you.  Doesn't everyone have some?”

Mary Anne’s Celtic Gift Shop

5694 Riverdale Avenue, Bronx, NY

Mary Anne spent her childhood in Ireland, and her love of the landscape, its people, heritage, and craftsmanship took hold of me and never left. Her artistic appreciation  is reflected in each of the hand-selected pieces at the shop

She loves that she can give these artisans, who are so passionate about what they do, a platform in NYC.
