On Monday night comedian Denis Leary, the star of 'Rescue Me' discussed the final season of the show established to honor the firefighters of New York City post 9/11.

Although he was one Jon Stewart's show to talk about the last season of the hit "dramedy" he seemed more interested in talking about vodka made out of potatoes.

The brash Irish American said "The thing for Irish guys is we're always amazed…We can't believe we had potatoes for years and we didn't invent potato vodka."

When Stewart asked how things were going with the "fake firefighting" Leary answered that his character Tommy Gavin would be inducted into the Smithsonian on Thursday.

He also told Stewart that the only reason "Rescue Me" would not continue was because he wanted to star in the "Spider -Man" reboot.

He said "I wanted to ride that baby as long as I could…Listen, I didn't know I was going to get "Spider-Man"…I got "Spider-Man", so I quit "Rescue Me"."

The final season of "Rescue Me" kicks off on FX at 10pm, Wednesday, July 13.
