Pittsburgh Steelers president Art Rooney II says the team will likely play an NFL game in Ireland soon.

"We’d certainly like to play a game over there. My dad (Former US Ambassador Dan Rooney) would have loved to have seen us play another game," Rooney told a Pittsburgh radio station.

"As you may know, we did play a preseason game over there in the '90s, and he was always hoping that we’d play another game over there.

"You never know, maybe we’ll pull it off at some point."

In a 1997 preseason matchup, Pittsburgh defeated Chicago 30-7.

The Steelers have a future game in Mexico City and the return to Ireland would be in memory of Dan Rooney, one of the great Steelers figures.
