Galway girl Nicola Coughlan is taking over hosting duties for "Saturday Night Live UK" this Saturday, April 25.

Coughlan, the star of hit shows "Derry Girls" and "Bridgerton," will be flexing her funny bone this weekend after a surprise cameo during the first episode of the UK spinoff of the long-running New York-based show.

"God, I was so young back then," Coughlan says in a teaser, reflecting on her not-so-long-ago cameo.

Though she's appearing on "SNL UK," Coughlan hasn't forgotten her Irish roots - which she made sure to remind host and "SNL" icon Tina Fey about in the UK spinoff's first episode.

"I'm Irish," Coughlan says firmly in her exchange with Fey. "Educate yourself."

Of course, it was all in jest for the bit, with Coughlan later posting a picture of her and Fey on Instagram and writing: "My life is made. Thank you @snluk and congratulations on a very excellent first show, total joy."

Coughlan was hard at work this week prepping for "SNL UK," joining cast members for a table read ahead of showtime.

While Coughlan is noted for her television roles, she is no stranger to the stage. She recently starred in "The Playboy of the Western World," by Irish playwright John Millington Synge, at the UK National Theatre.

Meanwhile, "SNL UK" has been enjoying strong reviews in its debut season. Highlights of the offshoot production have included witty Irish sketches, including "What kind of Irish is your grandad?" and host Jamie Dornan's "Pub Song."

Fans in the US can watch "SNL UK" on the Peacock streaming platform.
