The former barber, originally from Kilcoole, Co. Wicklow, set up his OnlyFans account after his barbershop closed during the Covid pandemic. He previously stated that around 85 percent of his fans are women.
By 2021, Gilbert claimed to be earning over €54,000 a month from around 3,000 paid subscribers on the adult subscription platform.
That financial success brought scrutiny from Revenue. Gilbert appeared on the tax defaulters list with an address in Wicklow and was described by Revenue as an online content creator. He was found to have under-declared his income by €61,734 and owed a total of €88,681, including penalties, following an audit for under-declaration of income tax.
His company, Matty Irish Viking Limited, based on Dame Street in Dublin city center, featured on the same list for under-declaring corporation tax, PAYE, PRSI, USC, and VAT by €191,464. The total owed—including interest and penalties—rose to €266,693. Revenue confirmed that both settlements were paid in full.
His tax affairs are not the only issues that land him before the authorities.
Gilbert has 42 previous convictions, including drug offenses, driving without a valid NCT, and driving without insurance or a valid license.

He was recently disqualified from driving for six years at Bray District Court after being caught doing 134km/h on the N11 while already disqualified and uninsured. The court heard the ban was ‘purely cosmetic’, as Gilbert now lives 3,683 miles away in Dubai.
Despite his legal troubles, "The Irish Viking" shows no sign of slowing down. He continues to post to his millions of followers and reportedly drives a Range Rover in Dubai.
Whether it is barbering, bodybuilding or tax bills, Gilbert certainly remains one of Ireland’s most talked-about online figures.
