Starring as William Shakespeare and his wife Agnes are Paul Mescal and Jessie Buckley, who previously appeared in "The Lost Daughter" together.
The film is directed by Oscar winner Chloe Zhao, who won the Academy Award for her work on "Nomadland", and showcases the love story that inspired the creation of one of Shakespeare’s masterpieces: "Hamlet".
"Hamnet" is based on the 2020 book of the same name that details a fictional account of how the Shakespeare family grieved the loss of their son, Hamnet, who died aged 11.
The story highlights his parents’ relationship in the aftermath of his death, and how they navigated life without him, with the main focus being on Buckley’s Agnes.
